Reconnecting Humans With Nature
Raptor Relations is an educational company that strives to re-connect humans with nature through our relationship with Birds Of Prey. Through education, Falconry, and the use of falconry techniques we bridge the gap between humans and what is now known as "nature deficit disorder" ...humans living out of balance with Nature and It's Laws and Cycles of Life and the effect of that on our pshcyes and Spirit.
We see this disconnect as the root cause of human imbalance as evidenced by the underlying anxiety and discord prevelant in many children, adults, and society in general. With the loss of positive connection with the "outdoors" has come the loss of who and what we are as one of nature's beings. When we re-connect, we remember that we are completely reliant and dependant on her, and marvel at the beauty of it. Our responsibility to caretake and live harmoniously within Nature becomes our role, which fosters harmony in ourselves. The two go hand in hand.
Through a positive and respectful relationship with raptors...Birds of Prey...we, as Falconers, immerse ourselves in relating with nature. The birds hunt for survival...something we no longer participate in and, we believe, has greatly added to our disconnect from nature. Through experiencing this with them, as their partner in the hunt, we experience the wildness of nature and her cycles of Life.
In nature, something gives up its life for another's life to continue...be it plant or animal. We humans have the choice to eat animals or not...but we still need the life of something for our own survival. We cannot deny this fact of Life. Whether the individual chooses to eat animals or not is up to them...we do not advocate one way or another. To take a life is no small thing, and it is the respect and reverance for Life, animal or plant, that we teach. Raptor Relations Falconers hunt with birds of prey. We do so for the joy of relating and connecting with the birds and their way of living. We do not take personal joy from the taking of a life...always there is compassion, empathy and an honoring of the prey animal. We understand and accept the Way of Life here on Mother Earth, and choose to participate fully with her in this way.
Our primary goal in teaching the importance of our connection with Nature through Birds of Prey is to foster awe and wonder, curiosity and compassion and an understanding of our coexistance with them as one of our Relatives on this Earth.
